Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
Add diced onions and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper and cook for 1-2 minutes to toast the spices.
Add kidney beans, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Stir well to combine everything.
Bring the chili to a simmer, reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Taste and adjust seasonings if needed. Serve hot with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese or sour cream.
Notes
For a thicker chili, simmer uncovered for the last 15 minutes to reduce the liquid. This chili freezes well for up to 3 months.
