Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a medium saucepan, heat the whole milk over medium heat until it begins to steam, but not boil.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, sifted flour, and egg yolks until smooth.
Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to temper the eggs.
Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 8-10 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Pour into a serving dish and chill for at least 2 hours.
Before serving, top with whipped heavy cream and serve chilled.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of the whipped cream before serving.
