Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Roll the dough into 1/4-inch thick sheets and cut into desired cookie shapes.
Place cookies on prepared baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
Allow cookies to cool completely on wire racks before decorating.
Using black icing, pipe concentric circles on each cookie and then drag a toothpick from the center outward to create a spiderweb effect.
Notes
For best results, store cookies in an airtight container and decorate just before serving.
