Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish or a similar-sized casserole dish.
Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole kernel corn, cream-style corn, beaten eggs, milk, crushed crackers, melted butter, sugar (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Prepare the Topping: If desired, sprinkle the top with shredded cheddar cheese and additional crushed crackers or breadcrumbs.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is set in the center and the top is golden brown.
Cool and Serve: Let the scalloped corn cool for 5 minutes before serving.
