Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a separate bowl, combine heavy cream, vanilla extract, and orange zest.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Fold in dried cranberries if using.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat into a 7-inch circle. Cut into 8 wedges and place them on the baking sheet.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For an extra touch, drizzle with a simple orange glaze or serve with clotted cream and marmalade.
