Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Roll the dough into a large rectangle. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over it.
Roll the dough tightly into a cylinder and shape it into a ring. Place on a greased baking sheet.
Let the dough rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze and drizzle over the cooled cake.
Sprinkle the glaze with purple, green, and gold sanding sugars to finish.
Notes
For authentic flavor, use a plastic baby figurine inside the cake before baking as is tradition. Be careful when serving!
