Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine the flour and baking powder; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
Spread half the batter into the prepared pan. Drop spoonfuls of strawberry jelly evenly over the batter.
Carefully spread the remaining batter over the jelly layer.
Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serve these delights fresh for best taste. They can also be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
