Instructions
Cook the Meat and Veggies:
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
Drain any excess fat and return the skillet to the heat.
Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook, stirring, until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth and cornstarch until smooth.
Add this mixture to the skillet along with the Worcestershire sauce and steak sauce.
Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
Add Cheese:
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded cheese until melted and well incorporated into the meat mixture.
Prepare the Buns:
Toast the hamburger buns lightly if desired for extra texture and flavor.
Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
Spoon the meat mixture generously onto the bottom halves of the hamburger buns. If desired, top with additional cheese, pickled jalapeños, or sautéed mushrooms.
Serve:
Cap the sandwiches with the top halves of the buns and serve immediately.
