Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and half a cup of powdered sugar until smooth.
Melt the chocolate chips gently over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
Mix the melted chocolate and vanilla extract into the butter mixture until fully incorporated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt, then gradually add to the chocolate mixture to form a dough.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from oven and let cool slightly on the pan.
While still warm, roll each ball in the remaining powdered sugar to coat completely. Let cool on a wire rack.
Notes
For a festive touch, add a pinch of cinnamon to the dough or dip the snowballs in melted white chocolate before rolling in powdered sugar.
