Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
Add melted butter, warm milk, egg, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Roll out the dough into a rectangle and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.
Roll the dough tightly into a loaf shape and place it in a greased loaf pan.
Cover the loaf and let it rise again until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Bake the bread at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
This Amish Cinnamon Bread stays fresh for several days and can be toasted for an extra crisp texture. Perfect with butter or cream cheese.
