Instructions
Prepare the Apples: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Melt Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the Apples: Add the sliced apples to the skillet and stir to coat them in the melted butter.
Add Sugar and Spices: Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using) over the apples. Stir well to combine.
Cook: Cook the apples for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and the sugar has melted into a syrupy sauce.
Serve: Remove from heat and serve warm. Enjoy the cinnamon apples on their own, or as a topping for pancakes, ice cream, or oatmeal. Garnish with chopped nuts or raisins if desired.
