Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
In a bowl, mix together milk, 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, bread crumbs, salt, and pepper.
Combine the cooked beef and mushroom mixture with the cheese mixture, then transfer everything into the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
This bake can be served with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal. Leftovers store well and can be reheated in the microwave.
