Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Stir in the brown sugar and corn syrup, and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it boil for 1 minute without stirring.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will foam.
Quickly pour the caramel mixture over the rice cereal and stir until all the cereal is coated.
Press the mixture evenly into a greased 9x13 inch pan. Let it cool completely before cutting into squares.

Store in an airtight container to keep the Krispie treats fresh for up to a week.
