Preparation Steps
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
Fold in the chocolate chips and caramel bits evenly.
Drop cookie dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are nicely browned. Cool on wire racks.
Notes
For best results, store the cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness. You can substitute caramel bits with chopped soft caramel candies.
