Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
Gradually add sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
Sift the cake flour and gently fold it into the egg white mixture in thirds.
Fold in vanilla extract.
Pour batter into ungreased angel food cake pan and bake for 40 minutes or until golden and springs back to touch.
Cool cake upside down in pan for 1 hour before removing.
Top with fresh strawberries before serving.
Notes
Serve chilled for best texture and flavor.
